Identifying & Developing High Potential Talent
Presented by:
Julio Govreau, Vice President of People Operations, LaunchCode
&
Barry Engelhardt, SHRM-CP, HR Manager, Store Supply Warehouse
From the ‘Great Resignation’ to employee-led markets, unemployment has reached a 50-year low and talent is at a premium. Organizations must be systematic and intentional when defining talent to ensure a consistent and equitable approach when attracting, engaging and growing key employees. First, organizations must assess and identify internal talent. By doing so, organizations can then align their talent management strategy in partnership with their strategic plan. This alignment acts as a force multiplier. By embedding a talent development plan into day-to-day operations companies stay competitive by maximizing an engaged and focused workforce.
Now, more than ever, companies need to identify high-potential employees as early as possible and involve them in various aspects of operations, thereby improving short and long-term retention, engagement and ongoing succession planning. It’s critical that organizations get more focused, involved and creative with employee development planning throughout the entire employee life cycle. First time front-line supervisors, management and executive group members will benefit from development plans focused on cross-training, emerging leadership and succession planning, just to name a few.
In this session, Julio Govreau (a subject-matter-expert in performance management) and Barry Engelhardt (who has recently developed and is rolling out a company level individual development plan) will discuss the following objectives:
- How to define & systematically identify high-potential talent
- Compare & contrast high-potential talent programs & succession planning
- Discuss the value of intentionally focusing company culture on talent development
- Developing high-potential talent throughout the employee life cycle
