Meeting/Event Information

This Workplace Violence presentation will provide an overview of OSHA’s jurisdiction, describe OSHA response to incidents of violence in the workplace, discuss elements of an effective Workplace Violence Prevention Program, and provide OSHA Compliance Assistance Resources available.

Maryanne Heuer Martin, MS, CSP, CHST served as an Industrial Hygienist for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, St. Louis Area Office from 2010 - 2018 and currently serves as the Compliance Assistance Specialist. During her Compliance Safety and Health Officer enforcement career, Maryanne received several awards, including OSHA’s 2014 Champion of the Year award from both the National Office and Region VII Office for exceptional performance in support of agency goals, the 2014 National Safety Council “Rising Star” award, OSHA’s 2012 Secretary’s Valor award, and several Assistant Secretary’s Team Impact Awards. As the Compliance Assistance Specialist, she provides outreach and compliance guidance to a variety of groups including small businesses, trade and professional associations, union locals, community, and faith-based groups. Additionally, she promotes and helps to implement OSHA's cooperative programs, including the Voluntary Protection Programs, the Strategic Partnership Program, and the Alliance Program.

Prior to her career with OSHA, Maryanne worked as a Risk Control Consultant for Aon Risk Services Central for seven years, working to improve the safety and health conditions in a diverse range of industries and business operations throughout Missouri, Arkansas, and Illinois. She received both her Bachelorette and Master of Science degrees in Occupational Safety & Health from Murray State University.  Her credentials earned include the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST).
