A new year brings a new Legal Update event! The annual SHRM of Greater St. Louis Legal Update is now almost as big of an event as our Leadership Conference. Each year, local attorneys share their knowledge and expertise in a variety of areas. This year we will be back in person. The morning will begin with breakfast and a keynote panel discussion followed by your choice of three breakout sessions.
KEYNOTE PRESENTATION – “Resolving Small Workplace Disputes Before They Become Big Ones”
Our keynote panelists will give attendees a unique window into employment disputes. Our panelists are former federal magistrate Judge Stephen Williams and Kim Kirn. They are all mediators who have handled hundreds of workplace disputes that are filed in court and as administrative actions. Their responsibilities as mediators are to understand the nature of the dispute, and the strengths and weaknesses of the cases that both sides will make. Given their experience in handling many high stakes workplace legal actions, they will be able to talk to attendees about how to prevent workplace disputes from becoming a legal action, and how HR can help management defend the legitimacy of their decisions. Their extensive insight into the world of workplace legal actions gives them a one-of-a-kind perspective that you won’t want to miss!
BREAKOUT SESSIONS
Following the keynote presentation, participants will have twelve breakout sessions to choose between. Each breakout session will be held during each of the three timeslots. Topics include:
- It Isn't What You Say, It's How You Say It: How Communication Wins Lawsuits
