Truly Human Leadership
Presented by:
Pat Berges
CEO & Managing Partner
Chapman & Co. Leadership Institute
Truly Human Leadership is a transformative leadership development experience led by Pat Berges of Chapman & Co. Leadership Institute in St. Louis. Grounded in the philosophy that people and performance thrive together, the program challenges leaders to move beyond traditional management practices and embrace leadership as a privilege of stewardship, care, and service. Drawing on the principles of Everybody Matters and decades of real-world leadership experience, participants learn how to build trust, foster meaningful relationships, develop others, and create cultures where people feel valued, engaged, and empowered to perform at their best. The program combines self-awareness, emotional intelligence, practical leadership tools, and a people-centered approach to driving sustainable business results.
By the end of this program, participants will be able to:
- Increase self-awareness and emotional intelligence by identifying personal leadership strengths, blind spots, and behaviors that influence team performance and organizational culture.
- Apply Truly Human Leadership principles to build trust, strengthen relationships, and create an environment where individuals feel valued, heard, and inspired to contribute their best work.
- Develop and empower others while driving results by using coaching, feedback, recognition, and influence strategies that improve engagement, accountability, and team effectiveness.
Pat Berges has spent his career testing and proving a single conviction: that truly human leadership is the most powerful competitive advantage an organization can have. It is a belief shaped by decades of experience across more than 60 countries, in some of the world's most complex organizations - and deepened by his friendship with Bob Chapman, the visionary Chairman and long-time CEO of Barry-Wehmiller, who remained a mentor and trusted voice throughout Pat's career.
As an executive at the world’s largest medical technology company, Pat’s ability to build high-performing teams led to transformational innovations, including the creation of Culture Circles, an employee empowerment initiative that transformed team performance, engagement, and retention at scale, a model that has since been adapted for leader and culture transformation in the public sector. Pat was also a founder of the Ventilator Training Alliance, a cross-sector collaboration that earned a 2020 Medical Innovation of the Year Award and helped save lives around the world during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pat later served as Executive Director of The Curve Initiative, a nonprofit founded by best-selling author Simon Sinek focused on transforming police culture from the inside out.
Pat was the founder and managing partner of H3 Leadership, now part of Chapman & Co., built on the belief that the most inspirational people lead with their heads, hands, and hearts.
At Chapman & Co., Pat leads leadership development engagements with a clear focus: helping the world's leading organizations build cultures where people are developed, performance follows, and leadership becomes a lasting competitive advantage.
